WildFire by Beadalon comes highly recommended as an alternative synthetic material for bead weaving, Peyote Stitch, and for leather wrap bracelets.

WildFire is made with a new synthetic material called Spectra and it has a smooth thermally bonded coating > More info on Spectra. It does not fray and has nearly no stretch. It's round, smooth, has the appearance of a monocord. It flattens a bit when pushed, can be knotted, and is not easily pierced by a needle. It is waterproof, colorfast and fusible, so it can be melted with a thread burner.

Personal Note - Recommended by the Merchant Princess for her kits on Etsy... I use Size 006 all the time for Peyote Stitch with Miyuki Delicas and 11s. WildFire appears to be a strong contender for abrasion resistance and the thread feels very pliable, not stiff like wire.
