The diameters are too thin to measure, but AA would be around 0.053 mm in diameter if held in a round shape; however, like floss, it flattens around the beads or leather cords. Size D and AA are mainly used for fine beading with Delicas, Tilas, 11s and 15s such as Peyote, leather wrap bracelets with small beads, or bead embroidery.

Just added 2 Colors: Rose and Bronze
in 1 Size - 0.7mm Ø - 12 filaments - in between C-Lon standard and Tex 400.
Individual metallic polyester film wrapped over nylon filaments twisted in a S twist clockwise construction. For micro macrame, kumihimo, and tassel construction.
Washable. Dries quickly. When cut with scissors, the individual filaments can separate. Cord ends can be melted and cut with a thread burner. Made in China.
Personal Note - New as of July 2019, with more colors and sizes added June 2020 and now 2 more colors added July 2023. If you like these colors I may add them in other sizes.

Madeira Silk Floss is a high quality 100% pure Swiss Mountain silk made into a 4-strand floss with a beautiful sheen and no lint. The packaging design keeps the silk dust and tangle free.
This silk is not currently manufactured, however the factory in Germany still has lots of stock. All the colors are available other than these: Color 0113 and 0514 are sold out; Colors 2211 and 2614 are limited to the stock on hand.
Washable in warm water. Iron on silk setting. Can be dry cleaned with extra care. Do not bleach or place in dryer.

News from March 2023 Newsletter |
Bonded Nylon is going through changes. After a period of expansion, we are now in a period of contraction. The factory making C-Lon Bead Thread and C-Lon Bead Cord is reducing its offerings affecting C-Lon Bead Thread Size D and AA, C-Lon Micro Cord and Fine Weight. Other brands are also going through changes. Read the news below to see how all of this is affecting your favorite bonded nylon brand.
Rest assured, we (C-Lon and Marion Jewels in Fiber) are letting you know about these changes with plenty of notice. There is still plenty of stock of the discontinued C-Lon affected. A few colors are low in stock, but so far all the colors are still available. Other brands are not as transparent unfortunately.

C-Lon Bead Thread Size D and AA |

If you are not familiar with C-Lon Bead Thread Size D and AA, they are monocords, lightly twisted and bonded one ply cords almost like a floss. They are very thin thread, Size D at Tex 45, Size AA even thinner at Tex 35.
Their diameters are almost too thin to measure, but AA would probably be around 0.053 mm in diameter if held in a round shape, however like a floss it flattens around the beads or leather cords. Size D and AA are mainly used for fine beading with Delicas, Tilas, 11s and 15s such as Peyote, leather wrap bracelets with small beads, or for bead embroidery.

Changes are also affecting the C-Lon Micro Cord color offerings reducing them from 48 colors to 30 colors. In addition the spool sizes will go up to 300 yard per spool, so not quite as large as the larger original spools, and 3 times as large as the current smaller spools. |

C-Lon Fine Weight Bead Cord Tex 135 is going from 61 colors to 30 colors. As to spool sizes, C-Lon Fine Weight Bead Cord Tex 135 was originally produced in 136 yd spools. The production was shifted to 50 yard spools, allowing more colors to be made in this size with 16 colors added in 2017-2018, and 1 in 2022. Now production will shift back again to the 136 yd spools. |

This brand used to be the quality standard of bonded nylon as it is pre-stetched, however it has been going through hard times for several years now. Less colors and sizes are available. It seems Tuff cannot find the raw material to make thier products.

Formerly Mastex, this thread has been going through changes becoming more bonded like Conso Nylon #18 used to be. Every year it seems another color is discontinued. Dye lot shifts are also an issue. Available in 13 colors.

C-Lon vs S-Lon |

S-Lon Bead Thread and Cord
S-Lon has been going through attrition for a quite while. Since opening this online store in January 2006, I have been stocking and carrying C-Lon and not S-Lon mainly due to duplication, and S-Lon lack of quality control.
However if a C-Lon color is no longer available and a S-Lon equivalent is still available I will not hesitate to switch brands. For Micro and Fine Weight, I doubt S-Lon will help.
As of Summer 2022, they had 17 Micro colors in stock. In March 2023 they have 14. As of Summer 2022, they had 17 Fine Weight colors in stock. In March 2023 they have 8. For C-Lon Bead Cord Size AA, they have only 8 colors left. For Size D, the S-Lon equivalent may help fill in when C-Lon is sold out. If any brand switches end up occurring in C-Lon Bead Thread Size D, they will be clearly marked.
